John Kunitzer chairs United Way campaign
John Kunitzer, President & CEO of Yeo & Yeo, is the chair of the 2011 United Way of Saginaw County campaign. The United Way financially supports programs at 19 partnering agencies that provide services to strengthen individuals, families and communities.
Yeo & Yeo is proud to be a pacesetter organization for this year’s campaign. This means the firm is one of three companies that is running its campaign early (July and August). The results of the pacesetters’ campaigns will be announced and will set the tone for other companies. Yeo & Yeo is also the first company to implement an internal United Way website where employees will pledge online.
Mr. Kunitzer states, “I believe in our community. Saginaw County is a great place to live, work and play. Working together, we – individuals, businesses, nonprofits, education and government -- build a strong community, and it is as strong as OUR commitment to make it strong. United Way is essential to the strength of our community because it serves the social, economic and charitable needs of Saginaw County. More importantly, we know firsthand that United Way has checks and balances that assure that our dollars are being spent wisely.”
Several Yeo & Yeo employees volunteer to help examine the United Way programs. They serve with a group of over 50 community volunteers on the United Way allocation panels that review each organization’s proposal for funding. None of the decisions are made lightly, but truly reflect the voices of the community.
Mr. Kunitzer concludes, “United Way is the community’s hand reaching out to create opportunity for all. Underneath everything we are, underneath everything we do, we are all people. When we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. That’s what it means to ‘Live United.’” This is OUR Community!
