Celebrating Our Women

Interview with Rose Sharman

CPAs & Advisors

In celebration of our many women leaders who have been instrumental in Yeo & Yeo’s success, we are proud to feature one of our remarkable leaders, Roselynn Sharman.

For years, we have provided our professionals with a healthy work-life balance, supporting them in their efforts to effectively balance a growing career and fulfilling home life. Our total workforce is over 54% female, and those in leadership positions exceed 50%. We are incredibly proud of our family-friendly culture and our ability to attract and retain women.

This is Rose’s perspective on her career, work-life presence, and leadership.

Q: Tell me about your career and your role at Yeo & Yeo CPAs & Advisors.

I joined the firm in 2017 as a staff accountant in the Consulting Department. I took an interest in payroll processing and payroll taxes, as well as providing QuickBooks consulting services. As the firm’s Outsourced Business Operations Manager, I help clients with outsourced accounting, back-office accounting, HR consulting services, and payroll tax reporting.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your career?

I enjoy working with and getting to know my clients and colleagues. I am part of an awesome team that is extremely supportive and always willing to help. Working with my clients, I’ve learned so much about the businesses in our community, and I enjoy being able to assist them with their accounting and HR needs.

Q: What do you think is the most significant barrier to women in leadership?

I have learned that women tend to be their own harshest critics. As someone with a young family, it’s challenging not to feel like you are making too many compromises. It’s important to reach out to others for help when needed. There is nothing wrong with leaning on your support system – that’s what they are there for.

Q: How do you balance your career, personal life, and passions?

It can sometimes be challenging to balance priorities. It’s important to set boundaries and dedicate the appropriate time to the things that matter most. It helps that Yeo & Yeo truly values work-life balance. Our people are very understanding and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Q: How do you stay grounded and take care of yourself?

I relax through gardening, cooking, and baking. I am a creative person and enjoy time in the kitchen or outdoors. I like to host my extended family and friends for meals and time together. It’s really the best way to relax.

Q: Why is empathy in the workplace so important?

You never know what others might have going on at home or in their personal lives. That’s why it is always important to lead with empathy. Showing interest in others and taking the time to get to know them as individuals helps to build a strong team. When you are compassionate and show grace through even tough situations, it helps you grow as a person and become a better leader.
